Join groove merchant Joe Bryl Friday night at Maria’s (960 W. 31st) for an evenings of choice vinyl-only cuts culled from his collection of rare LPs and 12″ singles. The vinyl solution takes off on Friday, August 31 with ACID ATTACK!, a special focus on the underground Acid House scene that energized warehouse revelers in Britain in the eighties. Inspired by the recent Strut Records’ release “This Ain’t Chicago”, ACID ATTACK! will bang the party with driving electronic rhythms from the original days of British acid with side trips to the first wave of Chicago House and Detroit Techno. The inspiration of this scene still permeates the underground club scene through the emergence of the rave scene, Burning Man and electronic tweaky glitch.

There is no cover for ACID ATTACK! event with the scene starting at 8PM.

Once in a while an underground dance music label comes around that brings a DJ back to the fundamentals of why he or she spends so many numerous hours (days really) digging, discovering and enjoying what he or she plays – whether it’s in front of a crowd or at home. MONOG RECORDS is one of those labels. After the usual fare of mixtape sets selected by LGA from his collection that dates from 1984 – 2001, Luis will be playing a set of his favorites from the MONOG RECORDS label @ 11pm.

MONOG RECORDS is a net label based in Lisbon, Portugal run by DJ/Producer Joal since 2009. The label’s aim is to create a unique relationship with its artists and their music. The respect, loyalty and absolute taste for good music are the fundamental values that move the label forward. Although the label has what some would term a house/tech-house style in its catalog body, MONOG RECORDS does not follow any electronic music sub-genre style. Monog is there for the good music and its only demand is that it’s good!

We are happy and privileged to spread the MONOG RECORDS sound for this edition of HFTM with a special DJ set by LGA!

Join us from 7-9pm and enjoy a few tastes of craft distilled spirits made by Few Spirits! They barreled some rye for Maria’s and we will be making cocktails with our new batch.

Joe Bryl will be on the decks to create a perfect aural accompaniment.

Today our buddy Luis is making tacos on the grill. And we are bringing kimchee to the table. We’ll see what happens.. In the meantime expect: 2-3 types of homemade salsa, Spanish rice, Skirt steak tacos, Veggie tacos, homemade black beans from Luis.  Join us from 5:30pm – 7ish pm! $1 off all craft drafts!

Attention all Settlers of Catan fans.  We Built this city on Rock and Wheat! Tonight we launch Settlers Sundays. The gaming begins at 8pm. Bring your own board tonite. We will have a few more next week.

We have so many damn amazing beer-oriented events booked here in the next few days so we are calling it the Bridgeport Craft Beer Week! Enjoy some exclusive beers, a launch party for Oskar Blues Brewery, a Craft Beer Boat ticket giveaway, tons of fresh harvest ales and pumkin beers will be tapped. And the Iron Brew Competition rounds up the weekend. As a finale we are  tapping that 120 minute barrel that has been sitting in our basement. Enjoy!

Stone Best By Tapping

We are very pleased to serve a half barrel of Stone’s ” Enjoy by 09.21.12 IPA” . It’s a Double IPA with an ABV: 9.4% and it was barreled on: 08.17.12. This is the freshest beer from Stone we have ever served.

Here is Stone’s description:
“You have in your hands a devastatingly fresh double IPA. While freshness is a key component of many beers – especially big, citrusy, floral IPAs – we’ve taken it further, a lot further, in this IPA. You see, we specifically brewed it NOT to last. We’ve not only gone to extensive lengths to ensure that you’re getting this beer in your hands within an extraordinarily short window, we made sure that the Enjoy By date isn’t randomly etched in tiny text somewhere on the label, to be overlooked by all but the most attentive of retailers and consumers.
