Two of Chicago’s premier soul selectors, Joe Bryl of Sonotheque fame and Phil Hertz of Crosstalk International, are joining forces on Saturday, June 9 in a massive musical mess-around that they’re dubbing “Booty Shake!”.This sonic smack-down will pit the two highly-regarded crate-diggin’ combatants in a no-holds-barred beat-battle featuring select cuts from their arsenal of furious funk, rare remixes, deep disco, hidden house, sweaty soul, bumpin’ bass and low-down movers and groovers from the past to the present.
This special summer dance session begins pronto at 8PM, staying alive until 3AM. As always at Maria’s, there is no cover. So, rest up in advance for this south-side Saturday night fevered booty-shaking sound clash.
